Project Performance by Rafaella
Martins and Ana Gil
Hello
guys, our name are Rafaella and Ana and today we are here to talk
about Raleigh International
Raleigh
International is a sustainable development charity. They work in
remote, rural areas to improve access to safe water and sanitation,
build community resilience, to sustainably manage natural resources
and to protect vulnerable environments.
It
works
to create lasting change through youth. The biggest youth population
ever is inheriting a world with huge development challenges. By
working side-by-side with communities, young volunteers have the
power, energy and positivity to create and deliver solutions.
Raleigh’s
work focuses on creating lasting change through youth in four key
areas:
-
Livelihoods (sustentos). Helping to deliver sustainable jobs, skills and businesses for young people.
-
Natural resource management. Helping to deliver sustainable jobs, skills and businesses for young people
-
Water, sanitation and hygiene. Putting young people at the heart of safe water, sanitation and good hygiene.
-
Youth in civil society.Ensuring young people are connected, valued partners in development.
There
are almost 7.5 billion people in the world and more than half are
under 30.That’s the biggest youth generation ever.
They
believe that young people are in fact one of the most important
resources the world has because Young people are more likely to adopt
new ways of thinking and doing, so They can influence their peers and
empower communities to change behaviours. And Their affinity
-
Nepal In Nepal their work focuses on delivering awareness raising, peer to peer education and skills training in key areas of community resilience, such as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Entrepreneurship Development and Community-based Natural Resource Management.
-
Costa rica They have been working to increase the provision and use of education and healthcare services in Costa Rica since 2001 because Costa Rica’s population are the most marginalised members of society and are almost completely excluded from political, social and economic developments made in the country. And across Costa Rica, indigenous groups experience higher infant, child and general mortality rates as well as higher rates of malnutrition and disease than the rest of the population, often these diseases are preventable.
-
Tanzania In Tanzania, Their work focuses on youth entrepreneurship, improving community managed water and sanitation systems and building community resilience. Approximately 75% of Tanzanians live in rural communities. Adequate access to safe water and sanitation is rare, and very few economic opportunities exist for young people. (They support young entrepreneurs to set up small businesses in their communities which benefit themselves and the people around them. In turn, their communities can become more resilient to social and environmental change.)
-
Nicaragua Their work focuses on youth entrepreneurship, improving community managed water and sanitation systems and protecting natural resources. Nicaragua is a poor nation where its young people are struggling to find work. They support young entrepreneurs to set up small businesses in their communities which benefit themselves and the people around them.
Access to water and
sanitation and effective use of natural resources are closely linked.
They work with partners and communities to develop the knowledge,
skills and attitudes that people need to improve the management of
these resources.
-
Malaysian Borneo They have been focusing on providing access to safe water and sanitation, building resilient communities, and contributing to biodiversity conservation, protection and research.
Of course
because:
-
They live and work with local communities, improving facilities and influencing new behaviours that will support communities in the future.
-
That environmental project give the chance to play an active role in combating climate change. They work to sustain natural resources with reforestation initiatives and infrastructure improvements, giving vital access to protected areas.
-
It gives you a chance to go back to basics and learn to be self-sufficient, appreciating the environment we live in.

Project by Iker Gálvez, Mees Jenneke and Elena Moreno
To begin with, our performance took place in the center of Ronda at a big residence where elderly people live. A group of nuns run the place with the help of some other people who also want to help, we tried our best to help them on everything we could.
It was a huge residence that had a very big entrance, lots of corridors, a big exhibition hall, a dining room, a kitchen, a church and it even had a beautiful garden.
All the staff was really kind with us, they treated us so well and welcomed us very nicely. Sor María de los Ángeles was the one that we spent the most time with, but we also met Sor Rosario, Sor Regina and some other workers. They all love their job so much, it's really admirable.
We tried to help everyone that seemed to need it in the residence. All the residents were normally over the 70’s that couldn´t live by themselves or didn't have enough money to stay at their own house.
We all worked together on this project. But we also shared some of it with Diego, Samuel and Oscar, because they were also participating in this project.
On our first day we went to La Cañada shopping centre en Marbella, early in the morning, to help The Hermanitas raise some money and resources for their residence. We gave up a lot of publicly papers to the people so they could know what we were doing and what they could do to help. They would go into the supermarket and do some extra shopping for us and give the extra stuff to the nuns later. We collected things like toilet paper, conservative food, biscuits, vinegar, etc. After a long day helping them until 9:00 p.m, we came back home at 11:00pm with a van full of resources for the residence.
One day at 5 o’clock we went to the residence to help, and suddenly we met with a big group of people that were wearing costumes, because it was the 3 kings day, and they were going to visit the residence. They brought with them, candies, presents and happiness. It was very entertaining and fun to be there, we even showed up on TV. Later on, when the show ended, we brought the elderly people to the salon, where we had a little chat with them and helped them with opening their presents.
The first day we were a little nervous, but the elderly people were very open and kind, so we rapidly got used to it and started to get along with them. One day we went to the residence at 12 o’clock approximately, so that we could help the staff with feeding some people. Elena and I were at one table, and Iker was at another table. Elena and I had a little chat with Raul, a man who lives in the residence, it was very funny and entertaining with this man because he was telling us about his dream, he wanted to draw a picture so that he could hang in in the dining room. He said he was a big artist. We were talking with him for quite a while because he was taking ages in eating his soup.
We think we did a good job on going along with them to Marbella. But also we think we spread a lot of joy and happiness all over the place, and we made a good impression on the residents and the workers.
At first we didn't really know how to interact with the residents, so we may had been a little quiet until we got used to it. And also, when we got back from La Cañada they told us to go home because it was really late, so we didn´t help them unload the van with all the stuff.
We were constantly checking on the staff to make sure we were doing a good job. But we could also see on all their faces that they enjoyed our presence there. Other than that we raised a lot of money and things for the residence, you can see it on the pictures.
It was sad leaving the residence because we had actually had a lot of fun. But we were glad we could help. It was a great experience, we would like to do it again some time in the future.
Project by María del Pino Mena & Irene García Racero
Hello! We are María and Irene and this our project execution. It is about how we perfomanced our work. We hope you like it!
María: In this Plan Project, we are going to talk about what we are going to do at the
old-people-center “Glorieta de San José”. Our purpose will be bring happiness to the elders,
and learn through the way.
old-people-center “Glorieta de San José”. Our purpose will be bring happiness to the elders,
and learn through the way.
Irene: This is our index.
María: As you already know, we have volunteered at a nursing home in Arriate. ( Primera imagen ) It is
localized near the church ( which is here ), between two narrow and beautiful streets. The building is
picturesque and big. ( segunda imagen )
( Tercera imagen ) It counts with two floors and a basement, and it has many rooms, even a courtyard
(FLECHA 1) On the ground floor, there are a drawing room, some offices, the kitchen, the dining room
and several living rooms, where the elderly people spend the most of their time.
(FLECHA 2) On the first floor, which is large, there are the bedrooms. This floor also works as a
storage room ( cuarta foto ) (for example, they save here the games) . The basement works the same
as well, and it counts with meetings rooms and the cleaning room.
At last, the building has a lift which communicates all the floors.
Irene: My first impression was that the place was better than I expected. I do not why, but I imagined a dirty and disorganized place. However, like I said, it was really clean, tidy and beautiful.
María: My first impression was that the building looked smaller from the outside, and that the people were
very nice.
Irene: Now, it is time to talk about our first day. To explain this correctly, I am going to answer the following questions.
The
first one is: "did you dress up for the event?". María and me wore
conforyable and sport clothes. In this way, we were ready to do
everything that was needed.
"How
did you get to the place?". I live in La Cimada, a district a little
far away from Arriate. For this reason, I got to the nursing home by
car. María, who lives in Arriate, got to there by foot.
"Were
you nervous or confident?" To be honest, I was nervous (and so was
María). It was our first time volunteering, we really have no idea of
what we were going to do. Luckily, everything went okay and we had a
good time!.
"Who did you talk with?" The first person we talked to was Belén, the psychologist.
She was the one who showed us the place, who introduced ourselves to
the elderly and the one we were sure to called if there was any problem.
We were so lucky for having her!.
"How
did you arrange the schedule?". Well, we could have done it better. We
had some problems, because Mery were to Seville on Christmas, and we had
to do everything the last days of the holiday and the first Fridays of
the second term. Also, we needed to call to La Glorieta because there
were some days or hours when they could not have us.
María: In our case, the staff was composed by the nuns, the nurses and the workers.
María: The nuns are called “Mothers” and they believe in God. As a part of a religious order, they want
to help the people to make the world a better place.
to help the people to make the world a better place.
María: The nurses are divided in the head nurse, Maribel, the nurses themselves and the nursing
assistants. The psychologist is called Belén and she helps the old people with mental problems. Also,
she plans all the activities.
assistants. The psychologist is called Belén and she helps the old people with mental problems. Also,
she plans all the activities.
María: The workers are the ones who cook and clean. We think they are an essential part in this place.
Irene:
We have talked about our organization, the staff and other things, but
we have left the most important part behind: what are the benefits of
our work?.
First
of all, it is obvious we were going to help the nurses and the nuns in
their hard work. Secondly, it is also obvious the elderly people in La
Glorieta received our help. Last, but no least, there is a third group
who was also benefited: ourselves. With this volunteering, we have
learnt countless things, besides the personal growth.
María: Our special workmate was Belén, the psychologist. We both are very glad for have known her. She
was always kind and nice to us, and she was the one that showed us the place and answered our
doubts. Also, Belen stayed with us during the activities. We have learnt from her patience and to bealways gentle. We are very grateful for living this experience with this amazing person.

doubts. Also, Belen stayed with us during the activities. We have learnt from her patience and to bealways gentle. We are very grateful for living this experience with this amazing person.
Irene: This was our routine:
The first day, we met the staff, the place was showed to us and we stayed until dinner. In this way, we carried the old people in wheelchairs to the dining room and then, to their rooms.
The second day, we dressed up as Wise Kings, as you can see! I was Gaspar, Mery was Baltasar and this young woman, Cristina, was a nurse who dressed up as Melchor. I really loved this day. We gave gifts to all the elderly people and everyone was very happy.
María: Also, we wanted to thank all the people who made this possible. The gifts are bought by volunteers in Madrid, who are assigned an old person. They bought the gift and, most of the times, they write a note giving their wishes. We think it is beautiful and even poetic that we were volunteering giving gifts sent by other volunteers.
Irene: Yes, we are very grateful with them. As María said, this was a beutiful and poetic action.
Irene: Anyway, the third day was more relaxed. Belén organized a group dynamics: the subject was talking about the life and the food. The elderly people told how was living when they were younger, and we compared it with how we, the teenagers, live now. It was surprising and interesting because I have never imagined there were so many differencies.
Irene: Finally, the last day we played bingo (I mean, we helped with the organization, we really did not play). The most important thing of this day was the goodbye. We were sad because we spent a really good time and we didn't want to say goodbye. Everyone were sentimental and we, obviously, plan to come back.
María: Irene and me think that we tried our best in our volunteering. We were always respectful and polite,
and we tried to stay positive even if it was a stressful situation. Besides, we put ourselves in the old
people shoes, being the most understanding we could.
and we tried to stay positive even if it was a stressful situation. Besides, we put ourselves in the old
people shoes, being the most understanding we could.
Irene: I
think my best work happened when we dressed up as the Wise Kings. At
first, I was not very convinced, because I do not like to disguise, but
when we finished, I could not be more happier. Everyone were so happy
while we were giving the gifts, giving a lot of "thank you" and smiles.
That is the reason why I consider this as my best work.
María: In my case, I think I was very mature and gentle in this occasion with Ana, an old woman. After playing
bingo, we were talking and suddenly, she remembered her mother and she almost started to cry. I
obviously didn't want that, so I told her to remember the good days, and started to ask some questions
such as “What did you usually do together?” “What was your favourite dish?”. Step by step, she
calmed down and at the end of the conversation, she was happy again. I will never forget her face
saying “Thank you”.

Irene:
Well, I obviously think everyone can always look for improvement, but
there was a specific time when I could have done my job better. It
happened the day we played bingo. Mery was the one who read the numbers
while I checked everyone has heard it and noticed it. One of the times I
was doing that, an old man started to say he wanted to go to the
bathroom. I told that to the nurses, but they could not carry him in
that moment, so he started to repeat his words almost shouting and I did
not what to do. Finally, the nurses carried him to the bathroom, but I
kept thinking to myself I could have done it better.
María: The time I think I could have done better happened on our first day. I was carrying in a wheelchair an
old lady, Dolores. She was complaining and almost crying about everything, and I didn't know how to
act. I tried to talk with her, but she didn't hear well and spoke low. I think I could have talked louder
and clearer, instead of shutting up and keeping quiet as I did.
I wouldn't behave the same if I had the opportunity. Since then, I have tried to be my best.

Irene: This is the hardest part: did we did a good or a bad job?
María
and me have talked about this and we got to the conclusion that though
it may have been better, we really did a good job. We were always
punctual and ready to work, our attitude was cheerful and gentle, and we
obeyed everything the nurses told us to. We are very happy for having
this opportunity and for the personal growth it had supposed.
María: Finally, we left. We both felt strange and sad. We have spent there a long time, facing new situations
and knowing new people. We promised to go back several times, and we hope to accomplish it.
We both are going to miss the old people, their simplicity and their happiness. Also, we will miss the
enjoyable talks with them and the staff. At last, what we are going to miss the most it is to be there.
The way people treated us was magical, and we will never forget it. This volunteering was an unique
opportunity to make the world a better place.

First of all, we gonna talk about the facilities. We went to a floor, where have differents types of rooms; for example there were a kitchen, a small gym with differents types of equipment, a huge dining room and 3 bathrooms for the differents people who spend most of the day there. There were a very comfortable environment.
We wore humble clothes, because we didn´t know if we would did any kind of activity or craft that would stain us. We went walking because we live near to the facilities, so in about 5 minutes we arrived there. On the one hand We were nervous because it was our first time as a volunteer, so it´s normal that we were nervous, but on the other hand i felt comfortable because i had good friends with me in the volunteering. Our first impression about the facilities was good, it was a big open place and cozy with interior decoration. There we talked a lot with 2 people called Juan and Miguel. These mens told us many stories about their lives, also they gave us some tips to live better.
There were different staff, like nurses, physiotherapist, cooks, etc… All of them are willing to help people who are there. Also they helped us to start talking with the people who were there.
This volunteering allowed us to help the elderly who need help to not feel alone. This project also has helped us to improve as people, because it is a very good experience from which we can learn a lot.
I had learn a lot from one of the employees, whose name is Isabel. Isabel helped us with any problem we had giving some tips and also she transmitted us good feelings because she really loves her job.
We had to wake up at 8 o'clock, then we went to a coffee shop to breakfast, and later we went to the facilities.
We were polite, respectful and patient, because they were elderly Just like they did it with us.
We had a very interesting conversation with 2 people there, like we had mentioned before.
This conversation helped these people to be happy because they told us some things about their lifes, we also learned many things from that conversations
At the beginning of volunteering i could not interact with the people there because i was very nervous and i felt bad because i wanted to talk with the people there but i didn't know how to start the conversation.
The staff were watching us, and they always told us that we were doing a good job. We also knew that we were doing it well because most of the people there were smiling.
I was sad, because i like talk with elderly because i learn many thing in addition they enjoy telling stories. I´m going to miss talking with these people, their stories and the great moments we had there. Maybe we´ll go again if we have enough free time.
Project by Jasmine Hulland and Ana Gil
First we went to Ayuca. It was a big room with a big table. We went in to the social workers office where she explained more or less what volunteering was about and what we were committing to.
The first time we actually went to Ayuca, because the social worker was going to help us and explain what we had to do and how to do it. She showed us a presentation with all the information we needed.
Our first day went very well, because everyone was very nice and we were helping the whole time. On our first day, we had the morning shift from 11 to 2 o´clock. We talked with all the other Ayuca volunteers and with all the people that wanted to ice skate on the day.
There are many people that are part of the Ayuca family. There is the psychologist, who is the woman that came to give us the speech here in the classroom. There is the social worker who is the woman who explained everything to us when we went to Ayuca. There was a volunteer and treasurer named Rosa, who is the one who helped us on our first day and also came here to the class, when they came to give the presentation.
The sick people and their relatives will benefit. Thanks to the money that we raised, they will continue to have a place where they can talk to someone who understands them without having to pay anything.
(Jasmine) The person that helped me the most was Ana, because I think we work very well together. We have a lot of fun and we are always laughing, and she helps me to be less shy. We did a great job together.
(ana) The person that helped me was Jasmine, because she was my partner and together we made a system to put the skates away and we had a great time.
We got along great with all the clients. We always tried to be polite, patient and kind, even when some people didn't even know what size shoe they had. They were all very nice and friendly.
(Jasmine) One case where I did a good job was when a Chinese couple came to the ice-skating rink.
(Ana) One case where I did a great job was when I had to go in the skating rink and help the little children to skate
On our first day, we should have organised ourselves a bit better, because all the skates were all wrong. We had put two different sizes together. But in the end we had it under control.

Hello, we are Marina, María and Marta and we are going to talk about our work in Ayuca. This time we have decided to do something different and at the same time to make a little game. During the presentation, we will ask several questions about what we have said and the first one to answer correctly wil win a prize. So you have to pay attention
This is the index
1 First, we have been in the ayuca facilities, these are located at the bus stop of Ronda, it is a cozy little apartment with three rooms.
A room is the psychologist's office, another is the main room that has a large table and the last one is the office of the social worker. We made the workshop with children here, which lasted two hours. It was a great experience.
2-First, we walked to the social worker who informed us of the timetable and activities we could do. Our first day was in a craft workshop with children. When we arrived at the association we were very surprised because there were many children and they were very small, they were between 4 and 7 years old.
3-The Ayuca workers are trained by the social worker, the psychologist and the volunteers. The social worker is called Lucia, she was very kind to us and she is a very cheerful person, who always has a smile for everyone. The psychologist is a person a little more serious than Lucia, but she was also very kind and helped us with many things.
We did not meet all the volunteers, but those we met were very kind and they were always willing to help.
4-This is an association in which a wide group of people benefit, because it helps people who
have suffered or suffer from cancer and all the people around them, who suffer from the disease but in a different way.
5-We have learned different things of many people, but our best example to follow is our best friend Andrea. She is a person who has suffered cancer for two years, is very strong and she is always very positive. It has taught us to value life more, to appreciate small moments and that if something is wanted, it can be achieved. He is a person whom we admire very much and we learn from her every day.
6 To start the routine we looked at the calendar to see what we did every day, we send a message to Lucia to confirm our attendance at the activity, then we take the car or walk to the association.
had a great time and enjoyed the workshop. In the second activity we did was on the skating
rink.
9 -A case in which we could not help was on the skating rink. A child started crying because he did not know how to skate, we tried to encourage him and help him to skate, but he did not stop crying and then he left the track. At that time we felt a bit disappointed.
11-We are sad because it is an experience that has ended and we would like it to last
longer. We have learned many things that we will always remember.
After, we were again in the office of the social worker where we did a training course to work in this association. Finally, we spent four hours in the Alameda de Ronda helping on the skating rink during the Christmas holidays.

We are Marta, María and Alba of the 1ºBC class of the Martín Rivero high school and today
we are going to talk about our performance in the voluntary association, Ayuca.
These are some of the topics that we are going to discuss in this PowerPoint,
any question you wish to ask can be answered at the end of this presentation.

Our volunteering in the Ayuca association took place here, in Ronda. Most sessions
were held during the Christmas holidays. As for the place, we did not have a fixed place to act,
since the location depended mainly on the type of volunteering that was going to take.

The first activity in which we participated was the Christmas crafts workshop, with some
children of the association. We spent the entire afternoon painting and cutting with the children,
helping them to decorate their small and cute creations. The children behaved very well to us,
as did the staff. We really enjoyed that afternoon.
Also,a few weeks later, we went to the facilities as our second time there, in which we attended
a small basic course of volunteers to train us as such. These facilities are located next to the
bus station, here, in Ronda.
On our third day of volunteering we went to the ice rink and our function was to collect,
store and provide skates to the peple who were going to skate, as well as help them with some
complications with the skates or skating.

of the float. These from the first photo are from us in the float at the beginning of the parade.
By the other hand, we have this picture, which is from the entire group at the end of the activity.
At first we were pretty nervous.
We did not know if we were going to get along with the children and that really worried us.
We left early from home and arrived about 20 minutes before the start of the workshop.
We decided to go see if we could help organizing the material so they ended up sending us to buy
a couple of things that were needed for the workshop. When we returned, the children had already
arrived and were predisposed to begin. They were very kind to us and, as time went on, we began to
feel more secure and confident. We did love being there, those kids are really awesome.
In our four volunteer sessions, we have been mainly in contact with the social worker,
sincerely she is the one with the most relationship we have had and she is a very nice girl
who has treated us very well like her partner Laura.
On the other hand, Rosa was one of the volunteers who helped us the most and who was
always willing to solve some doubts about what we had to do

Given that each session was totally different from the previous one, it did not give

In practically all the activities that we carried out in this volunteering we had to interact
with people of different ages and ways of thinking. For all this, we had to be kind and maintain a good relationship with everyone, which was not always easy. Also patience has been a very important point.

Starting from the fact that volunteering in itself tries to help and be useful for those
who need it, it must be taken into account that we put special enthusiasm when it comes
to serving the users that require our services. In summary, we are proud of our
performance and our ability to resolve.
Maybe it was the day when we collaborated in the cavalcade of the three wise men.
We could have helped a little more with the little children but it was quite difficult to resort
to the needs of about 20 kids who were in the carriage. We could have manage better the
organisation to attend those kids.

From our point of view we can’t decide if our work has been satisfactory for others
but for us it has been a great experience where we have learned a lot and we have also
enjoyed it all together. We think the best memory we took is the smile of the people we helped, without a doubt
that was our best gift.
PROJECT BY ÓSCAR GARCÍA GÓMEZ, DIEGO MUÑOZ OVALLE Y SAMUEL VILLALBA TORRES.
Good morning everyone. We are Samuel, Diego and Óscar. Today, we’re going to talk
about our project performance.
about our project performance.
We worked in two different places, the most important was the old people home.
It is close to the our lady of the mercy’s Church, near to the poplar grove.
The building is big and it has a garden around it. Tis garden is cared of by one of the
residents. There’s a car park too. The building has 3 floor: first and second level and
the basement. People who need lots of help or use a wheelchair live in the second floor.
The rest of them stay in the first. Finally the dining room, the laundromat and the
workshop rooms. It also has its own church and a assembly hall. There are some
living rooms and a hall as well. In addition every resident has their room
with a bathroom and a bedroom. The building has lifts in order to help
the elder people who can’t use the stairs.

We also went to La Cañada, a huge shopping centre in Marbella.
In our first day of charity help we need to get up early because we went to the Cañada
to collect money, so we get up at 8 o’clock. We arrived at the the Cañada with a van,
we took the van at the old people’s home. The van belongs to the Little Sisters of the
Poor so the trip was free. We met at 9 o’clock at the old people’s home, when we were
waiting at the van an old man came and ask to us questions of Geography like where is
located the Amazonia?. We answered correctly so he shake our hand, after that he
went out. Just we finish to talk with the man, the van arrived. We got into the van
and we met Juan Luis, which is a Little Sisters of the Poor
helper, was the van driver. Finally we arrived at the Cañada.

In the Cañada we divide us in three differents groups, each group with a nun,
also each group went to the three differents exits to could gave the people pamphlets
with the information of the organization and the way that they can help. Our job was to
distribute papers with information about the organization: what they did, who they
helped and what they needed. So we spent the whole morning after we went to lunch
with the assistants of the nuns. After returning from lunch there was a break in the
respective places of work. Later, when we returned from the break we spent the
afternoon distributing paper and at the end there was free time that we took
to travel the Cañada. Then, we worked the last time and at the end of the day
the nuns brought the snack.

At the end of the day, we went back to Ronda. We managed to collect a lot of food,
especially milk and cookies. Also quite a lot of money and we also got 5 legs of ham!
Well, now I’m going to about the staff. The little sister of the poor is a catholic
organisation. So there are nuns like Sol Maria de los Ángeles who is the most important
nun in the old people home. Despite being an old woman, Sor Maria is very energetic
and she is always ready to work. She is very generous, she invited us to a ham sandwich
for dinner. It's more, she wanted to invite us to breakfast donuts but we refused.
She was very talkative and liked to tell us anecdotes about her life in Colombia
and in different parts of the world. She is a person who sees the positive side of things.

Other nun is Regina who is very hard worker. She is a bit serious but she has a big heart.
Juan Luís is the nun’s van driver. He is a very funny and cheerful person.
He is a very open person who had a lot of fun with us in the van. He collaborates with
the nuns to collect food and money.

There are other nuns who go with us like the nun who was with Iker and Mees.
In the old people home we met other worker like the gardener who resides there.
He asked us several geography questions to entertain us. We also met the caregivers
of the old people. They helped the old people to open the presents that
Three Wise Men brought them.

The second day, we were with the three wise men and their pages among which was
the teacher Mercedes of this center.
the teacher Mercedes of this center.
The objective of the project was to help older people. Our first way was to collect money
and basic necessities. The van came back full of things and we also have so much
money. In addition, we spent time with them as well. We were with them
when they opened their Christmas presents and during the Three Wise men
visited them. Some of us helped the ill people to eat.
One of the workmates who inspired us a lot was Juan Luis.
Juan Luis is a Little Sister of the poor helper, he help them driving, fixing the facilities
and collecting money. He inspire us because he work with lots of energy and kindness.
He is very kind, inspiring and jester person. At the beginning our relation was really bad
because we don’t talk to him, but at the ending of out charity help we talk a lot and our
relation improve because we also speak with him about our life.
Juan Luis is always helping the Little Sisters of the poor.

The first day Oscar, Samuel and Diego got up at 7:30 and went to the nursing home on
foot. We arrived at old people home at quarter to ten and then we got into the the van,
picked up the nuns and started the travel. We had breakfast and we began giving flyers
and collecting money. Then they paid our lunch and we took shifts with the nuns.
After that, we spent the rest of the day working. However, we had little breaks.
At the end, we came back by van and we arrived at 11 o’clock.

There was a time when we think we helped a woman who wasn’t part of the organization.
However we want to explain this because I felt very shocked.

We were collecting money in la Cañada. Diego was asking for food and money with
Regina at the market. A woman passed beside us/them. When she was at the

she had. Regina and Diego gave her a calendar. At that moment the woman start crying.

continue walking. She had money problems but we shouldn't forget to help others.
Them she said that she felt rewarded by that calendar, she felt that
if you do goods things, good things happen to you Thanks to us,
she could feel better and she decided to helps others.
The second time we were, the 3 wise men came to the old people’s home.
When they left, the nuns ask us for taking the old people in wheelchairs back to the
second floor. We didn’t have problems with the first woman. Later when we said to the
second woman if we could help her giving her back to her room she start shouting us
because she didn’t want to move. We tried to calm her down although it was impossible.
We had to leave her alone for a bit. Then we were explained that she had a mental illness.
We felt shocked, didn’t know how to act and helpless because she didn’t trust us
and we didn’t know how to manage that.

To judge if we are doing a good job, we used to think how the people that we help felt.
I mean, it’s really important the empathy in that case because if we know how they felt with
our job we’ll now if our job its good or bad for them.
This work was a great experience for all of us, for this reason, we feel good
for having been able to help the old people but we think that there will always be

PROJECT BY MARÍA DE LA TORRE, JAVIER GUTIÉRREZ AND ISRAEL GARCÍA.

The place where went to do volunteer work was in Ronda. The ayuca association is at the bus stop,it is a small but very cozy place. There is a bathroom,a small living roomwith a table and chairs around is where someof the jobs are made and an office where the psycologist and the social worker work.
When we arrived at the bus stop we knocked on the door and theyopened us and we entered the room where the psycologist and the social worker work. When we all arrives she gave us alittle talk about how the association worked and the guidelines on how we had to work, where, when and how we could help the association. Also that day you ( English teacher) were helping distributing brochures and explainig also we had have to do.
The people who are in charge of directing the association are the psycologist and the social worker but their work is not only helping the association, they can also help to resolved the problems of the other volunteers that because they can not move of their houses, they have to go there. In Ayuca, anyone can sign up and help.
It's obvious that the main beneficiaries of our work are the people of Ayuca. People who are going throught a cancer or have passed through it. But the public can also benefit from our work. For example, on Christmas holidays we work sharing out ice-skates in a box-office, and helping people with their ice-skates.
My colleagues and I have done this job with great dedication and we have enjoyed it a lot while we did it, althought not all the merits is ours, but it is also on of the many other volunteers who work in Ayuca.
First we take a bus to go to Ronda and we went to the Alameda. We have been working on the ice rink and the first day we went in the afternoon, from 5 to 9 pm. In the beginning it was hard because there were so many people that we had to attend very quickly and we colud not stop for a snack, but we were very happy because we had a great time and enjoyed the moment a lot. The second day, we had to get up early to go to work. This time was a little bit calmer, and although is not an esay task we also had a greattime again.
i think the treatment we had with the memnersof the association was very good and their with us was also excellent. About why at the beginning and at the end of the shifts they let us get on the track to skate for a while.
I think several cases in which we did a good job were when we helped the children to put on the skates. There were a lot of small children who did not know how to put them on and we had to help them. Another case was also when a shift ended and the floor was full of bags, we picked them up and threw them in the trash.
In this work I believe that there has not been any situation in which we have not been able to give the best of ourselves. We have been able to do this work and I believe that at all times we and the other volunteers have put all our effort som that everything went perfect.
I think if at some point I was not doing my job when, I would stop, reflect on what I doing, then try to know what I am doing wrong and finally try to solve it and if I was doing my job wellI would feel pretty good and I would try to continue as I have been doing in what I am saying I speak for all my companions.
when we finally left the volunteer work we felt very happy. We knew that we had done a great job and that the people with whom we had worked and who had attended have felt good with our company. We believe that if ever more in our life we were proposed to do volunteer work we would accept.
PROJECT BY GEMA,ELENA AND MELISSA.
We wore a tracksuit and trainers because we were going to play with the children. We thought that we could feel more nervous.
People who work in the Scout association are very nice and we were received very well by all of them.
Of our work had been benefice the enviroment and the children. The enviroment because we collect all the rubish that we saw and the children because when they have problem to comunicate with others, we try that they forgot them.
One of the classmate that we have had was Fran who is the boss of the Scout association. He always helped us when we needed it.
We went there every Sundays from 17:00 to 19:00. When everyone was there they did a specific Scout greeting. Then, they started playing and at the end the groups said goodbye with the same greeting that they started the evening.
We did a great job when for example, we did a very big game were the children had very fun.
One day, one kid was playing and he fell on the ground. He started to cry and we were so worried, but fortunately, Rojas helped us with this.

I wore a hoodie, a pair of trousers and a pair of trainers. I was a little nervous because i did not know how i would treat people with mental disabilities.
The team of the center is formed by a psychologist, a
physiotherapist, the nurse, an administrative assistant, and technical in social animal care.
First I talked with Isabel and she explained me what I had to do. After a while de nerves disappeared.

My not so good job
We can’t do some exercises because some elderly people are very dependent, and we had changed some projects that we had thought.

The last day the kings of the east come to center to visit elderly people. It was a special day for them because it was a different day.
They received a gift from their majesties. A belt for men and a scarf for women.
That day there were also relatives, some of the grandchildren danced and we all sing Christmas carols together too.
Then we did some exercises with them and finally we said goodbye to them even though they did not want.
It was a special and fantastic experience.
NEXT PROJECT BY...
MIRIAM GONZÁLEZ
AND
BEATRIZ VERGARA
Good morning, we are Miriam and Beatriz. We have carried out a benefic project. This project is about teaching Spanish language to people with difficulties and help children with their homework. First of all, we are going to show you the way that we have done the project.
(…)Also, our daily routine, the interaction with the recipients, a specific case where we did a good job, other where we couldn´t do our best, Is it a good or a bad project? And How did we feel after the project?
Well, let´s go to explain the principal points of the project: The facilities/working site/environment where our performance took place; the summary of our first day, the staff, who or what had benefit from our work and the people who helped us.
To begin with, the culture centre provided us a room to give the classes and to use that we had to fill out a document where we committed to take care of the place. Our worksite is situated in the neighborhood of San Rafael. It has some courtyards but we haven´t needed it and also, it has one lift because there are a lot of stairs to go up and we have worked with some disabled people. The room was quite spacious, clean and tidy. It had a large table with several chairs, what helped us a lot.
On February 2, was our first day as teachers. We were dressed for the occasion but it wasn´t so difficult. We arrived together but we were not nervous either because we knew most of our students. Before we started with the classes, we talked to Jose Luis so he could give us advice. Apart from having been busy with exams, we have been able to agree with the students to set an adequate schedule for everyone. Fortunately, our impression was good, as we expected, since we chose the place.

To tell the truth there was no staff to help us because the classes we gave them alone, the only staff with whom we contacted, were the secretaries who gave us a room of the cultural center.
Five people have benefited from our classes. Two of them, were disabled people (Miriam´s aunts) Milagros and Guadalupe with seventy seven and sixty five degrees respectively. In addition, we have worked with our brothers, both are called Ruben but one of them is eleven and the other is twelve years old. We can´t forget Ali, the only Muslim, with the same age as Rubén González. Despite the differences, it has been easy for us to work together.
The man who has made this possible has been José Luis, he through the roots association, has given us the number of Ali's mother and has been asking about our project in case we needed help. In addition, someone we have learned, is our English teacher, Juan, since we have taught a language, we look at it, to know the right way to teach a language, as is Spanish, in Ali.

Our daily schedule was five and a half to seven thirty, with a rest of a quarter of an hour to snack. We arrived every day walking, and we went up to class all together. On the first day the children studied for their exams and Guadalupe and Milagros made newsrooms. On the second day, the children did homework and Rubén Vergara studied for an exam, and Guadalupe and Mialgros improved the way they do their newsrooms. Finally on the last day the children studied for their English exams and Guadalupe and Milagros made essays and an exhibition of their writing.
From my point of view, I think we were both punctual, because we arrived at the exact time of the class. In addition, we had to be patient, since disabled people have a different mentality that we need to understand and also, be a little strict, as they are children; they get tired very quickly of studying.
We did a good job of explaining the language lesson to the sixth graders as they were very prepared for the exam and they both took better note.
To be honest, we would like to have had more students from other countries to be able to give the Spanish classes that we originally had thought to do.
We knew we did a good job because Jose Luis had long wanted to carry out this project and hadn´t got it because of the lack of people and we did it even though there weren´t so many Muslims.
When we finished the project, we were satisfied to teach for free. Both, we hope to teach again, personally because I want to study schoolteaching and Bea because she likes children. We will miss Jose Luis, for believing in us; to Ali and to be teachers of people who can´t afford to pay for classes.

AND
MARÍA GUZMÁN

The place where we worked was in nature. The countryside was in a bad conditions because it suffered a fire last summer. This place is near to Benaoján, nexto to the road. It is a beautifull place in front of this, there is a castle. Although the place is nature, it has got an hotel, an a restaurant near it. Furthermore, some peaplo throw some plastic,bottles.. form car windows and this waste sometimes falls in our place. In my opinion, this type of people are horrible and the cause damage to the invaronment.

On our first day of work, María and I went to the of the fire. Before meeting in Benaoján we planned the clothes that we had to wear; confortable clothes: a T-shirt , some tights and some trainers.Went we arrived at thye field we were shocked because everythings was burnt, we didn't wait another second and we went to work.

The benefit of this is the enviroment. We are helping to replant an area when the trees died, and now they might grow.

Throughout this experience, my partner María has been helping me. She and I learned the importance of taking care of the world and for that reason we enjoyed planting trees, and as well as contributing to the improvement of the enviroment, we spent some time together.

Isa and I work together very well. We went to the land four times. The first time we observed the land and we cleand it up and I pulled up bad grass and we reconated the soil. The second day we replanted about five trees before it began to rain. The third day we replanted 5 to 10 tress and the last time we checked if the trees were planted and everything was growing. Isa an I moved on foot. We walked about ten minutes an we didn't have a set schedule.

This week, we checked the quality pf the soil out. At first, we thought that this project was going to fail because the land was very very dry, but we were wrong and we don't give up. Only with contributing in this project we have done a great job for them, we can't highlight something in particular.

If we had looked at the weather forecast, we woludnt have gone to the land. That day, the weather seemed good but one hour later, it began to rain and we didn’t continue with our projects. We were mud-splattered and we come back on foot nd we didn’t have any umbrellas. We had to return on foot because our parents were working. We felt stressed, overwhelmed and wet. It was horrible; we forgot the gear in the place, but two hours later my father, Isa and I went to the land by car and our gear was still there! We had a good luck! In the end, Isa and I were laughing because that day was horrible but we had fun.

As I said earlier, we thought that the project was going to fail for the quality of the ground, but we worked very hard to avoid it. First, we water the land to dampen it and secondly, we prepared the soil and planted the trees with great care. Seeing the result, we knew that she and I did a good job.

We must go to the land to check if the trees are still growing. If the trees aren’t growing, we will plant them in another places. This is in Benaojan and it is called “caminito del rio”. This refers to a road to mouth of the Guadiaro river. Finally, this experience was unique, we have learned how to plant trees and we have found that working in the country is very hard and difficult.

Hello, we are Abigail, Aida, Maria and David. We are going to talk about our project performance. To start with this we want say that our project has been very funny and satisfactory. Our project has been realized thanks to the help of the Group Scout Pleyades Ronda.

The facilities that we have had are we have worked on Sunday or on our free time in holidays. Moreover, we have had more facilities because Abigail was already in the group. Also, in the group everybody is very friendly and welcoming. The working site is a school inside a marginal neighborhood, but is a place where these isn´t danger. About the environment in which we have worked we have seen that it isn´t a dangerous place as people say and people are just as kind as in any other place. Above all, we have worked in a courtyard.

Maria: I was wearing a tracksuit because I was going to do physical exercise. I went to school on motorbike with my friend Aida from 4:30 to 6:30. At first I was a little nervous but after I calmed down when I talked to the guys. I spoken with the Rovers that are the bosses and they explained my work there. My first impression was positive since everyone helped me.
Abigail: I have been in the group scout for many years and therefore I always hear them apart. Besides, I always go by car or stay at my grandmother´s house with my sister. I have never had nerves because from the first day I went with a friend. As for the schedule I always take time to go since it is an activity that I do for pleasure. My first impression was very good because I like children very much.
David: For my first day, I wore a pair of jeans and hoodie. They were confortable in case we practised any sport but at the same time, they were formal enough for the event. I got to the place with my father by car, as I did not know where the place was exactly. Since we used his car, I arrived in no time. I have to say I was a bit nervous at first, but once we started, I forgot my worries and just focused in making a good job. When I arrived, the first person I spoke with was Rojas, the manager, and one of the girls who were in charge. They told which group I was taking that day and some quick advises for my first day, which were very handy. The schedule was alrready arranged by the veterans, so I just followed their instructions and helped with the prepared activities. I have to admit that my first impresion of the place was not very positive, as the building was old, but then I started to see it was in good state and its facilities where optimal.
Aida: In my first day, I wore a tracksuit because Abigail advised me but I put on some new shoes and messed them up. I always went on a motorbike, I have a personal motorbike and I always go with it. When I arrived the first day I was very nervous because I am very shameful but then I spoke with the director and I felt better. About the schedule I went with my friends on Sundays that we could from 4:30 to 6:30. My first impression of the place was very nice and I felt very well.

The personal that belongs to this association is divided in to five groups that they are castores, they are children from 4 to 6 years old. Manada are children from 7 to 12 years old. Tropa or Rangers from 12 to 16 years old. Pioneros from 17 to 18 years old and Rovers or bosses who are people over 18 years old. The representative of this association is Francisco Rojas and in each group there in a manager who organizes the games.

In this case, young children are the ones who benefit the most, because we have mostly gone to play with them and have a good time. Furthermore, we take a little work from the monitors.

Aida, Maria and David benefit in the largest case of Abigail, since it was she who introduced us to the group and who taught us more or less how the group worked. As well, we can say that the monitors of each group told us what to do and how to do it to each one of us. Our relationship is very well because we get along well with everyone.
Abigail: In my case, Elena were the one who helped me to join the group. I was learning from everyone a little but from the one that was more Elena. My relationship is good since we all get along well.

Normally when we arrive we all prepare to present the groups in which we divide according to the ages, each group has a shout or song. After this we do games and activities with our group and sometimes we all get together. We repeat this every Sunday from 5 to 6:30 and on vacations we make excursions and camping. We always go there by car or motorbike.

In this case, the recipient are always the children so always through the game and with love we teach them to share and to be aducated.

Abigail: In my case, I was assigned to be the protagonist of a great game. I think that I did it well because just by looking at the faces of the children you know if you do it right.
Maria, Aida y David: We after playing a game and see the happy face of the little ones we knows we are doing well. Besides, the children give you hugs when we win.
Abigail: One of the cases where I did something wrong was to think about a game and I am wrong in the rules. I felt very bad because I thought I had disappointed them.
Maria, Aida y David: The worst feeling is when we didn´t win and the children got sad.

Just to see how your team congratulates you for doing something right for the faces of happiness and for the sings of affection we know that we are doing well.

When we finished our practices every Sundays we felt very satisfacted to make the children have a great time, but also exhausted because playing with children tires a lot. After the first day we liked the experience and decided to return. What we miss most will be the joy of the boys when they see us, the habit of going on Sundays and how well we have when we are together.

Destiny or coincidence, in the middle of our job, the association received a priced, The Golden Medal of the city. As technically we were part of the staff, we were invited to the ceremony, which took place in the Santo Domingo monastery. Most of the children and the staff were there and we saw how the mayor gave yhe Medal to Rojas, the manager, in representation of the assiciation. After the ceremony we had a great party where we played with the kids and ate all together. It was a day worth remembering.

This was the float that was assigned to us at carnivals, there were few people assembled because they were not or had other responsibilities. That day was to stay a few leaders and pioneers in the car with the little ones and they enjoyed throwing candy and see the people around them watching them enjoy. That day there were only the beavers because being a very large group not many people entered.

He is responsible for the group, is in charge of everything and is the one that assumes all the responsibility if something happens. Right now he is the leader of the pioneers where Abigail is involved. He tries that the scouts apart from fun is a way to remove children from the street is more of the bad habits. This association teaches children the true way to have fun and be educated, because today children just think that to have fun you have to drink or smoke and in this group teaches you that to have fun you do not need to have a bottle or a cigar in hand. They teach you to socialize with other people and even help people in need such as aspodridis, a neighborhood of the elderly, ayuca and more. And all this is a summary of what this association can do for all of us.

PRESENTATION
Good morning! Today we are going to introduce you to our project. Initially, we were going to help blind people from Ronda to do exercise, but this couldn’t be possible, so we decided to start our plan B.
Since the beginning of this year, we have been going to a home for the elderly, called Hermanitas de los Pobres.

This place is located in Poeta Rilke Avenue. The building has three floors. We usually worked on the 3rd one, but on Saturdays we used to be in the 1st one to. To access the floors, there are stairs and also an elevator, for those who need it. It is big enough for a wheelchair to fit inside.
Normally, we used to help in the dining room upstairs, serving dinner to elderly people. There were also living rooms, where they watched TV; a little studio, where they did crafts and math; and even a hair salon!

On our first day, we were really nervous. The thing we were going to do seemed to us a little confusing and difficult. When we were finally upstairs, we didn’t know what to do, because there was no one there . Suddenly , a woman stepped out from a door and smiled to us. It was Curra. She is also a volunteer and told us to go with her to get an apron. As soon as we got our aprons, we met one of the sisters that work there, that thanked us for being there. Later we met Pepita, another volunteer. Then, we went to the dining room and met some of the elderly people we were going to help, like Cecilia. We will talk about her later. The sister and the other volunteers, started to sing a prayer before we served dinner. It was a little shocking the first time but we got used to it. We were told then, how to serve dinner depending on the person preferences and needs.

There isn’t a lot of people working there, that is one of the reasons why they need volunteers. The people who works there are really nice, there are nurses, cooks, cleaners, and also the nuns, who direct the resident. My mum is also part of the staff.

The beneficiary of our project were the elderly people from the residence. They were really nice to us. Some of them had been in the asylum for a lot of time. We have learnt a lot from them and it is a pleasure to have helped them too.

Working together has been really easy for us because we have managed very well to divide the work depending on our skills.

We had two different routines. On tuesdays and thursdays we would meet in the street corner at 7.30pm or a little earlier and we would get inside together. Once we get inside, we would go upstairs. There, we would first of all, go get our aprons, and secondly, we would go to the kitchen to greet the staff and get to serve dinner. We will serve two dishes and a dessert, then we would clean the tables and get the dishes, the glasses and the cutlery to the kitchen, where someone would be cleaning them. We would stay helping until 8.30 or 9.00pm.
On Saturdays, we would also meet in the corner to get inside together, but this time at 11.00am. These days we go to the first floor, where the mini studio for crafts is located. There, we would be helping the elderly people do math or just spending some time listening and speaking to them. At 12.30pm, we would start take the elderly people to the dining room. Some of the to the one in that floor and other one in the other floor, where we would serve lunch later. After serving lunch, we would help the nurses get the elderly people to the living room or to their rooms. On Saturdays we would go back home around 14.30pm.

I can personally say that I had a really good relationship with them. They were all kind to us, specially Cecilia, who told me that she had fallen in love with me the first day. Apart from that, we always treat them nicely and respectfully.

I Think that the one time I did a great job was when I helped one of the nurses get an elderly lady to her bed. She was in a wheelchair and couldn’t move, so The nurse told me how to help her and I did. It was also a hard moment, because in my opinion, this old lady situation is a little sad, and I also valued even more the daily effort of the nurses.

I think that I did great when we were in the studio on Saturday morning. I met Salvador, he loves to draw and I talked to him for more than an hour, then he gave me some of his drawings as a gift and that made me feel really happy.
On the contrary, there was a time we didn’t do our best, and even it can sound funny, we both had the same problem. One night, there was oranges as dessert, we were asked to peel them, and it was a disaster. I think that we should eat more oranges in the future!
Sometimes it can be difficult to know if you are doing the right thing, but we couldn’t doubt we were doing good. Everyone smiled to us and thanked us for being there helping.

Leaving is always the saddest part, especially when you connect with this kind of people. All in all, I think that this isn’t for good. We will go volunteer again when we can, not because we have to do it for a project, but because we have found a real way to make our world a better place.

ERRIZAS
ARBORIZATION
PROJECT.
PART 2.
-Work place.
The workplace was the area where there were fewer trees
-How do we get to the place?

-The volunteers.
The Volunteers: These are some of the volunteers that showed up:
Juanmi.
Salvador Chamorro.
Javier Ponze.
Oliver.
-First Day.
The first day is always important, it is the first contact of the project.
The plan for those first 2 hours was to, look for the best spot where to plant
and also clean as much trash and clutter as we could while doing so.
For the clean up we used paper bags and gloves.
While looking for a good spot where to plant we found the remains of a similar, but much
older project, it seems the project was incomplete as all the trees still had the plastic
bags around them, the trees where all underdeveloped, dead or dry. We decided to remove the dead trees.
After some thought we also deccided to use that spot for our project.
-Second day.
This time our objective was to set up the field for planting.
We started digging holes that would be adequate for the walnut trees
that we planed to plant.
While digging we also found one of the reasons that lead to the older project failing,
the gruound was filled with large, broken concrete pieces, that were left over from constructions.
We removed them from the planting spots so we could use them properly.
We decided to dig 3 holes instead of 6 and explained the budget problem to the volunteers,
one of the volunteers decided to donate a tree for us to plant, an olive tree and so
we dug a fourth hole.
-Third day.
This was the final day of the project, we set out to plant all four trees.
And I have to add, while I'm really grateful about the Olive Tree donation, I couldn't really help
with it because I'm allergic to Olive trees.
The plan for the day went well and we managed to plant all 3 Walnut trees and the olive tree without any
problems, after that we pured some water into each of them from an used glass bottle that we brought.
And with this we concluded the field section of our project.
(Benefits): This part of the project, its one of the greater benefits of the whole project,
we managed to plant 4 local species trees in places which where basically un-usable before we started.
And of course there is also the beauty element.
The garbage removal was probably the most influential part of the project short time, while the trees
will be benefitial in a longer period of time.
-Problems.
Before we start with the second day, we should make a pause
and talk about a shortcoming of our project. Since christmas up to the first day we
managed to save up to around 60€ for the budget. Our original intent was to buy 6 trees
to plant. Our original plan was to use the tools we alredy had. The problem came when
we tested our shovel. We used a gardening shovel which proved to be ineficient with the more solid
ground. So we had to make a choice and after much consideration and bargain hunting
we found a better suited shovel. Which, even as a bargain, costed us 27€.
Our budget was reduced and with it the scope of the project.
-The beneficiary of our work.
The Errizas is a public park just as much as it is nature.
Of course the enviroment is a beneficiary but just as much is everyone else who goes there
and can see the place in a better state.
·The
first day when we arrived we were received by Belén in the
courtyard. Belén
is
the psychologist and responsible for the elders in the residence.
Being our first day we were presentable
but however, we were very nervous.
To
present we started talking to each elder one by one, it was fun and
we had a good time.
·In the residence there were many nurses who looked after the elders. As we can see
in
this picture there were also a lot of nuns and there were also
doctors and the psychologist from the center who was Belén.
·The main beneficiary of our project are without doubt the elders. They benefit from our project because they learn new things with us and also have fun and distract when we go
there
with them.
·We
started our project with the help our english teacher Juan, who advised
us to collaborate with this residence and we also receive help from
Adrián who is a classmate.
We
went 3 days that were Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
·On
monday we went in the morning from ten to twelve.
·On
wednesday we went in the afternoon from half past three to half past
five
·On Friday we went in the morning from half past ten to half past
twelve.
·Our
relationship with the elders was very good. We were very respectful
with them
and
they were very happy with the treatment we gave.
·We
think we did a good jop when we helped to dress and undress the
elders to
do
theater for example and also to help and also help them move from one
floor to another.
For
example feeding him to help them put on their clothes also to help
them perform domestic chores.
·We
have done a good job because we have helped people who
need
it. It is evident that our work has been of great help to them since
they spend many sad days, and
we have done everything possible so that they have a smile.
·The
last day when we were going to say goodbye we were very happy for
the
work
we did but at the same time a little sad because we took care of the
elders.

The facilities of Catalina Guerrero Aviles are too big, illuminated and the maintenance was very good.
Our first day was quieter because we were organizing the two groups that we had trained. We were also introduced, we could observe how they worked there.
The staff of the centre was very sociable, friendly and nice. They do a lot of activities with the old people who they look after ...
This work benefits both the elderly, the people who work there and all the people who go to this association to visit them.
Our workmate was Isabel, who works there. She is a very nice and funny woman who taught us a lot of things.
Nerea and I came from Montejaque to Ronda by car or by bus at 09:00 am, and went back to Montejaque at 13:00 pm if we took the bus or at 14:00 when we went back by car. When we arrived in Ronda, we went to have breakfast to Calle de la Bola and when we finished, we went to Catalina Guerrero Avilés, where we did the volunteer.
We were respectful and patient interacting with them. We had to understand their situation, because there were people who wanted to listen to us, while others ignored us.
At Christmas we wore Santa Claus costumes and gave them a surprise. Later,we gave them gifts and candies.
We were making crafts and singing with them.
One of the cases that we could have done better was when we did the craft. We did everything we could, but the women who worked there had to help us.
In my opinion, I think we did a good job because we spent our time helping others. We learnt a lot of values and we really enjoyed it.
